The short answer
An AI dance video is a short clip where a video model makes the person in one photo move. Add a clear picture to Your picture, keep Dance selected and press Apply effect: Seedance 2.0 Mini returns 5 seconds of you dancing in a neon studio, full body, in the clothes from your photo. A 5 second 720p clip costs 5 credits, the price shows on the button, and a failed render is refunded. It is not a live camera filter and not a face swap onto somebody else's footage: the studio and the routine are generated around your picture.

The Dance effect
What Is an AI Dance Video?
An AI dance video is a short clip where a video model makes the person in a photo move. It generates the studio, the camera, the routine and the outfit instead of cutting a face onto existing footage.
What the Dance effect shows
Dance is one of 34 photo effects. The scene is a bright studio at night, with neon strips on the walls and a glossy floor that reflects the colours. The routine is the effect's own: bouncy steps, arm swings, a quick spin, then a final pose. The frame stays wide enough to keep the whole body in, which is why a full-length photo beats a selfie.
Is it a filter or a face swap?
Neither. There is no live camera filter, so you get a studio and a head-to-toe frame rather than a mask over the camera feed. A template pastes one face onto somebody else's choreography; here a model builds a clip around your photo.
Where does the sound come from?
The render carries generated audio rather than a licensed song, so a post is not flagged for copyright. To join a trend, download the MP4 and add a sound from TikTok or Reels.

Step by step
How to Make an AI Dance Video From a Photo
Three steps from one picture to a downloadable clip.
- 01
Add a full-length photo
Head to toe if you have it, with the face clear and in good light. JPG, PNG and WEBP up to 20 MB. Dance is a one-person effect, so leave the Partner slot empty.
- 02
Keep Dance selected
The studio opens on the Effects tab with Dance chosen at 720p, 5 seconds and 9:16. Change them in the Take settings and the price updates.
- 03
Create and post
Press Apply effect and wait 2 to 5 minutes, then download the MP4 and post it, or add a trending sound first.

Yours to keep, refunded if it fails
No watermark, packs never expire, failed renders refunded.

What Photo Works, and What to Keep in Mind
Most dance videos disappoint because of the photo, not the model.
Pick a photo that shows your body
- Head to toe is best: the effect keeps the whole body in frame, so a picture that shows your legs dances better.
- Face clear, eyes open, even light. Sunglasses or a face half in shadow give the model less to follow.
- One person per photo, JPG, PNG or WEBP up to 20 MB. The routine is generated, not copied from your pose.
What the routine will and will not be
- Every clip gets the effect's own routine: bouncy steps, arm swings, a spin and a final pose.
- You cannot pick a dance or copy a TikTok challenge, and you cannot paste your face onto someone else's choreography.
- 5 seconds by default, and the soundtrack is generated rather than licensed.
Who to film, and who to ask first
- Your own photo is always fine. Someone else's needs their permission, and no strangers or public figures.
- A dance video of someone who has passed away can comfort one person and hurt another.
If the picture is not yours, do not render it.
Ideas
5 Dance Videos People Make With One Photo
One picture and one tap is enough for each of these.
A birthday post
A full-length photo of the birthday person, dancing under neon.
A clip you send abroad
A friend in another country gets a studio dance instead of a text message.
You and your younger self
A childhood photo with the whole body visible, dancing in that same outfit.
Pets and their people
The effect is written for people, so a pet may not follow the routine. Worth one try.
A post with a trending sound
Render the clip, then set it to the sound trending on TikTok or Reels this week.
Three routes
One Dance, a Slow Dance, or a Duet?
All three start from photos, but they are different clips.
Dance effect
1 person · 5 s · generated audio
One photo becomes a full-body routine in a neon studio, in your own clothes. The default here.
Slow Dance effect
2 people · marked For two
The pair sway cheek to cheek in a dim ballroom. Pick it for two friends or a couple.
Duet tab
2 people · your own clip · up to 15 s
Two photos plus a short dance clip you bring, so the moves and the sound are yours.
Why make it here
Built for the Dance effect, priced on the button
Other tools bury an effect like this in a template library.
No app, no template
It runs in the browser. The neon studio, the camera and the routine are already built in.
The real model names
Seedance 2.0 Mini by default, or 2.0 Fast, 2.0 and 2.5 at up to 1080p, in 9:16, 1:1, 16:9 or 21:9.
Your outfit, your photo
It keeps the clothing from your picture instead of putting a costume on you.
Pay per clip, refunded if it fails
5 credits per clip, packs from $6.99, no watermark.
Questions
Before you make your dance video
Photos, price, sound and what the Dance effect can and cannot do.
How do I make an AI dance video from a photo?
Add a clear photo to Your picture, keep Dance selected and press Apply effect. You get a short clip of yourself dancing in a neon studio, ready to download.
Is there a free AI dance generator?
The studio is free to open, but a render uses credits: 5 for a 5 second 720p clip. Packs start at $6.99, and a failed render is refunded.
What photo works best?
A full-length photo with the face clear and in good light. Whatever you wear is what you dance in.
Does the clip come with a song?
It comes with generated audio rather than a licensed track, so a post is not flagged. Add a trending sound from TikTok or Instagram and lower the clip's volume.
Can two people dance together?
Not with the Dance effect, which takes a single photo. Use Slow Dance, marked For two, or the Duet tab.
Is this a face swap, or can I pick the dance?
Neither. A face swap pastes one face onto existing footage; here a model generates a new clip around your photo, with its own routine.
Can I use a photo of someone else, or of a pet?
Someone else's photo needs their permission, and no strangers or public figures. A pet may not follow the routine.
How long does it take, and what if it fails?
Renders usually finish in 2 to 5 minutes and the MP4 waits in your history. If one fails, the credits come back automatically.
